Sandra Tinari is a Western Australian artist whose paintings explore the transformative power of light and colour.

Inspired by the extraordinary salt lakes, mineral terrains and unusual plant forms of Australia, her work investigates moments when changing light turns the familiar into immersive chromatic experiences.

Tinari translates these observations into vibrant and contemplative chromatic abstractions. Rather than describing a specific location, her works seek to evoke the sensation of being within our expansive landscapes and the emotional response created through colour, light and space.

Photography remains fundamental to Tinari's process. More than three decades working internationally as a photographer, journalist and visual storyteller developed a deep sensitivity to light, atmosphere and observation. Today, field research undertaken across remote Western Australian landscapes continues to inform every stage of her studio practice.

In her photographs, abstractions are captured in camera through intentional use of light focus and movement. The vibrant colours are entirely natural and remain untouched post capture.

Throughout her career Tinari has lived and worked across Australia, the United Kingdom, Europe and the Middle East, producing exhibitions, public installations and cultural projects.

Experiences in London, Italy, Portugal and Dubai broadened her understanding of colour, environment and contemporary spatial practice, influencing the distinctive visual language of CHROMA that now defines her work.
